Most of the time I exceed it, but not enough to get caught.

Especially my wife.

Whats the longest distance you’ve ever driven in one day?
I try to limit my driving to six hours in a given day, but I've done more. Don't know how many miles, though. Probably about 400.

Where was the first place you drove when you got your license?
My favorite back roads. Someone in a VW tried to play chicken with me! I chickened out immediately.

Did you have any restrictions on where you can drive?
No.

What kind of car do you drive?
Saturn Vue.

What was your first car?
1953 VW Sedan (We drove it around our property, but I never registered it - too bad, it was a nice car.)

How many cars have you owned?
Too many to count. Here are some:
-2 Simca 1000s (and a third one for parts) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simca_10…
-Austin Healy 100-4 (never drove it, but my friend got it going and I rode in it once)
-1954 Chevy 3/4-ton truck (AKA: The Mighty Quinn) with a Grumman-Olsen aluminum van body - I kept it for 17 years! I think I replaced everything on it at least once.
-1966 Chevy Biscayne with 250-6 and three-speed on the column - great crusing car!
-1967 Buick Special Wagon 300 V8 and a three-speed on the column. Got many miles out of this one.
-1963 GMC full-size School Bus - drove it to Cali...
-1957 Olds 88-Super - drove it back to NY (Sadly it rusts to this day in my friend's front yard.)
- 1970 Volvo 164 (Nice car, but lots of trouble - engine finally blew)
-1970 Plymouth Duster with 318 V8 and three on the floor and a noisy differential.
- Various 1974 Volvos (2x 144, 1x 145) all four-speed.
- 1987 Chevy S-10 4WD Pickup with 2.8L V6 and 5-speed on the floor. Bought new, drove for 140K miles - sold to friend who put another 100K miles on it and sold it in Mexico for $2500 with 240K miles - go figure.
- 1996 Jeep Cherokee with 4Cyl 2WD and 5-speed on the floor - not very reliable - traded it in at 80K miles.
- 2003 Saturn Vue with 4Cyl front wheel drive and 5-speed on the floor. 155K miles and counting - going strong, most parts original, replaced a lot of wheel bearings though.

Did you pass your learner’s permit test the first time?
yes

Are you nervous about driving over bridges/tunnels?
a little. I often try to imagine the feeling of having a bridge collapse under me as I cross.

Do you have a lot of junk in your car?
Garbage and other things, tools, equipment, wire, etc. seem to accumulate.

Is your car clean?
it gets washed once or twice a year, whether it needs it or not...

Do you sing while driving?
sometimes.

Ever followed someone while driving just to see where they were going?
Probably, when I was in High School.

Do you use cruise control?
Sometimes, but I don't like it.

Do you blast your music?
My friends used to know I was coming because they could hear the music (no subwoofers) before they could hear my truck. Now I still blast the music, but I wear hearing protector ear plugs.

Ever run a red light?
Once I ran a red light because I was distracted by the police car on the side of the road. When I realized what I had done I pulled over and waited for him to gome over and give me the ticket...

Ever been chased by the cops?
Once I thought they might be after me and I took a detour.

Ever been in an accident?
two major, a couple of minor

Ever have a flat tire?
a few times. And twice I had wheels come loose on me. Makes a sound that reminds me of the gears on a streetcar.

Ever had something else happen to your car?
-In one of my Simca 1000s the steering wheel mount broke while I was driving and it fell in my lap. It was still connected at the other end through a rubber U-Joint. So I handed it to my friend in the passenger seat and said "Here, you drive..." - True story. My friend recently recounted it to me on Facebook.
-In my 1967 Chevy Nova and the lower A-Frame broke (literally into two pieces) as I was backing out of a parking space.
-Once, in my 54 Chevy Truck while parked, my friend got in and pushed on the brake - it went right to the floor. A brake line had burst - but miraculously didn't do it while I was driving. He must have had a heavier foot than me.

Does your car have a sunroof?
No.

Is your transmission automatic or stick-shift?
I've only owned one car with an automatic - a 1957 Oldsmobile 88 Super.

Does your car get good gas mileage?
It does pretty well. 25-29 MPG

Ever run out of gas?
Oh Yes! Once I ran out on the NYS Thruway and coasted half a mile to the gas station. Other times I wasn't so lucky.

Ever run over an animal with your car?
At least one rabbit, probably a squirrel or two, a racoon, and once a bird got jammed in my grille - broke the grille.

I backed my truck into a parked car once.

Once, when I was 15. An old truck that had gotten stuck. I was the smallest person so they had me drive while everyone else pushed.

i guess

yes - on the NYS Thruway in a downpour at 70MPH with trucks all around - not fun.
